Endowment

The Goldman-Hermelin Education Foundation was established in 1986 to provide for the long term stability of Hillel Day School and to ensure that scholarship assistance and programming excellence would be maintained and sustained. The foundation is comprised of restricted and non-restricted endowment funds which all serve to benefit the school. Donations can be made to any of these funds at any time. For a list of the funds and their purpose, please see below.

A restricted fund may be established by a gift of $50,000. A non-restricted fund may be established by a gift of $25,000. For more information on how you can give a gift or establish a fund, please contact Amy Schlussel, Director of Advancement at 248-539-1484 or aschlussel@hillelday.org.

The Debbie and Jules Altman Memorial Entrepreneurship Fund

Enhancing and improving entrepreneurship programs at Hillel Day School. This includes, but is not limited to, bringing speakers to the school to speak with students about entrepreneurship, field trips to area entrepreneurs, and/or supplies for school programming with an entrepreneurial lesson (i.e., fifth grade cookie design unit, sixth grade Shark Tank, MakerSpace, student-led business endeavors).
Morris Baker Library Fund

Provides funding for new books and collections for the library.
Jim Berger Endowment Fund for Faculty Excellence

Supports professional growth opportunities for faculty members subsequently, additional learning opportunities for all Hillel Day School students.
The Berman Family Seventh Grade Washington D.C. Trip Endowment Fund

Supports the seventh grade Washington, D.C. scholarship program.
Izaak and Sonia Blechman Science Education Fund

Provides for scientific enrichment materials.
The Walter Cykiert Memorial Holocaust Education Fund

Provides for curriculum, speakers and field trips to educate students about the Holocaust.
Sadie Cohen Playground Endowment Fund

Provides for upkeep of playground equipment and grounds.
The Davis Family Hillel Helping Hands Fund

For the purpose of helping vulnerable students and their families, meet basic needs. These basic include, but are not be limited to, providing food, clothing, supplies, funds for evaluations and therapies, and more to Hillel students in need.
Dorfman Elementary School Enhancement Fund

Provides elementary school with educational materials and programs to enrich student learning.
Patty, Otto & Annie Dube Family Fund

Provides funds for 8^th Grade Graduation Reception.
Frances and Kenneth Eisenberg Endowment Fund

Provides funding for professional development for teachers.
Mitchell Feldman Inservice Training Fund

Provides funds for Judaic Studies’ professional development opportunities.
The Rona and Herbert Freedland Fund for Performing Arts

Subsidizes costume fees for students, funds sound and lighting, props and scenery, chorus books and orchestrations, site licensing, royalties for musical productions.
Goldman Israel Trip Fund

Provides assistance for 8^th graders traveling to Israel.

Pat & Mark Haron Endowment for Educational Resources

Provides funds for the resource rooms.

Provides guest speaker programming for parent audiences.
Sylvia and Sam Isaacs Children’s Author Fund

Provides a yearly guest authors and illustrators program for students.

Provides school with Audio Visual materials.
Sue and Alan Jay Kaufman Family Endowment Fund for Library and Scholarship Programs

Proceeds will be used for the purpose of enhancing and improving the library and scholarship programs.
Kaufman Family Athletic and Enrichment Fund

Provides athletic scholarships and programming and underwriting of annual Kaufman Athletic Breakfast Minyan Awards Presentation.
The Edith and Larry Kowalsky Minyan Fund

Provides breakfast for the annual Kowalsky Minyan and funding for the enrichment of minyan education.
The Michael Kroopnick z”l Family Endowment Fund

Provides funds to promote resiliency in Hillel’s students, foster social connections, and to educate students and their parents about mental health issues and de-stigmatization.
Milgrom Family Music Fund

Subsidizes two choirs and choral music. Purchases cd’s and music for department (both general and Judaic), funds 8^th grade voice mini-classes and sheet music. Provides choir and choral music enrichment as well as assisting with all music based school-wide learning.
Mike and Mary Must Cultural Events Fund

Provides school-wide cultural arts opportunities including speakers, groups, presenters to enrich student learning in areas of music, diversity and drama.
Rose and Irvin Otis Early Childhood Education Fund

Enhances and improves early childhood education at Hillel.
Reed Family Fund for Technology

Provides funding for classroom activities related to technological enhancements.

Provides special programming for educators regarding differentiated instruction.
